Although we are not a registered charity, we are a non-profit making organisation/community group; may we apply?
Yes. Organisations with a written constitution, articles or other form of governing document can apply for grants ranging from £250 to £30,000. Larger sums maybe awarded in exceptional circumstances.
Can Community Interest Companies apply?
Yes provided they are Limited by Guarantee and have a minimum of three unrelated Directors. Community Interest Companies Limited by Shares are not eligible.
I am an individual who is raising money for a charity that fits your guidelines; may I apply?
No.
We have several projects and are unsure which will stand the best chance of success; may I apply for more than one?
No, you cannot apply for more than one project at any time.
- For a Fixed Grant of £250 you are free to re-submit a new project once your End of Grant Report for the previous project has been accepted by the Trust.
- For Small Grants (£250 to £1000) you are free to re-submit a new project once your End of Grant Report for the previous project has been accepted by the Trust.
- For Large Grants (over £1000) applications can only be made once a year. In addition all previous projects must have been completed and your End of Grant Report for those projects must have been accepted by the Trust.

We are an organisation that struggles to raise running costs and cannot therefore submit a separate project for funding; are we barred from applying?
You should contact the Administrator for advice before submitting an application. Although the Trustees prefer to fund individual projects, they may fund core (or on-going running) costs if there are exceptional reasons to do so.
How much should I apply for?
Grants vary in size and depend on a number of factors including the total funding requirement, an organisation’s size, purpose, and the amount that we have available for distribution. It is generally advisable to tell us what the project will cost, how much is raised so far, and potential for other funding, and the Trustees will then reach their own conclusions and award an amount they consider appropriate.
Are grants payable over a period of time, say for 2 to 3 years?
Grants are usually given for one-off projects and we make no commitment to fund projects on an on-going basis . Fixed grants of £250 and Small Grants must be completed within 12 months and large grants within 24 months.
We received a grant last year; may we apply again?
Yes, you may apply at any time for a different project (providing you do not have a current grant from us) irrespective of whether you were previously successful or not.
We have missed the deadline, can we apply late?
Fixed grants of £250 and Small Grants are accepted on a rolling basis and are not subject to deadlines. For Large Grants the Panel meets bi-monthly. If there are exceptional circumstances, you should telephone the Administrator for advice.
What reports will the Trust require?
We ask applicants to submit our End of Grant Report – a short update on projects to which we have contributed. Failure to provide this update is taken into account when considering future applications and could make funds paid subject to claw back.
Can we publicise your involvement if we receive a grant?
Yes please do. You may tell anyone who wants to know including other potential funders, or other organisations who may wish to approach us. It is a funding requirement that you also include us in all your advertising literature including all websites/posters/flyers etc.
